• Sermon notes Pastor John Dabeck

31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. 33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’ 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:31–35

John 3:16 God loved me first! He saw me as more important then Himself. He knew I had no way to redeem myself. So He gave up His only son so I could have a path to redemption. Jesus came and lived a sinless life and conquered death for us. HEB 10:23-25 Hold fast to Christ without wavering. Meet together. It is not a recommendation! It’s a commandment for a reason! Be obedient! Don’t neglect other people! Gods Word always assumes you are already in a community. Link arms and be reminded of the supremacy of Christ! We have way more power when we are in a community. God commands us to love one another and we obey the best in a community.

We love one another by stirring each other up. HEB 10 We need to be together so that we are constantly keeping each other accountable and challenging each other to be better in all areas of our lives. The Christ in my brother is always stronger than the Christ in me! EPH 4:15-16 Speak the truth in love. Don’t beat up or hurt your brother but build each other up in love. Are you in an environment where you are challenged by others? Are others challenged or stirred up by you?

How can you stir one another if you don’t know each other? Love one another by meeting together. DO NOT MINIMIZE CHURCH TO A RELIGIOUS ACTIVITY!! Get into a community, it is a commandment! God does not play games! 99% Obedience = 100% Disobedience!! Obey the command and trust God! He wants what is best for us! Make church a priority, Get into a life group, and get into serving! Remember that life is not all about you! Pour out and sacrifice together! Being in a group causes us to be vulnerable and open up our hearts to each other- in community! ECCL 4:9-12 Two is better than one!

Love one another by picking each other up. We are to be there to help others when the need comes up. We must be vulnerable in your community and carry each other’s burdens! GAL 6:2 Other people “Community” is a gift from God. Love your brother and sister the same way Christ loves us. No condemnation, no shame, no guilt. Remember that Christ loved us enough not to leave us where He found us. Don’t excuse yourself right out of obedience! Share your life with others just as Christ shares His life with us! Hearts are healed when you’re in a community! A foolish person rejects God’s community! Be wise- listen and obey God’s Word! Are you obeying or ignoring God’s Word about community?

    APPLICATION:

Join a life group. Get involved with the men somewhere! Talk to Jesus at work. Pray with my wife at night. Stay in the Word with God’s filter locked into place. Stay humble and thankful at all times! More time in God”‘s Word!

    IN HIS NAME!

  • I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Romans 12

Paul is giving it to you with both barrels right here. Because God has given you way more mercy and grace then you will ever deserve you should devote the rest of your life to serving Him! It would not be wise to bite the hand that feeds you. Or better yet the hands that FREE you. Don’t fall into the trap that is always surrounding you telling you that you only need these few things and only need this much money and only need to drive that truck then everything will be OK. The world tells you that you can make yourself happy and all you need to do is put on your big boy pants and get to work! If you have truly been saved and truly love the Lord it will change everything. If you read His Word and meditate on it and think about it, it will start to take over everything that really matters to you. Your priorities will start to align with God’s plan and He will use you to bring more people to Him.

Society sets a bar and without even trying we all try to chase that goal. To have the American dream and own a house, retire early, travel the world and have more and better stuff then your neighbor. While having money is not evil it sure does become a gigantic distraction. When you’re devoted to success and the dream of attaining all these things it begins to immobilize us believers and we forget why we are really here. Are we here to buy stuff and drink margaritas on the beach or does God’s Word say something else? Well obviously it’s saying something else. God’s Word warns us about all these distractions all over the place. We cannot become complacent and forget who we are or where we have came from. More importantly do not forget who did all the hard work. Devote yourself to Him. Tell others about Him and tell them what He has done in your life. Spreading the Gospel is more valuable than any amount of money you can ever attain. Believe it and make Him the most important thing in your life. Don’t fall into the trap! Fight Fight Fight!!

    APPLICATION:

Saying all that is so much easier then actually living it so I want to put my money where my mouth is. More time in Gods Word! More time in prayer! Stop chasing all the material things and have an eternal view at all times. Devotion takes time and effort. I want to be devoted to God’s Word. Talk about Jesus at work. Pray with my wife at night. Serve somewhere!

6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Cor 9:6–8

Praise the Lord for Nick!!! Thank You Lord. I pray you keep working in his family! Keep praying for him.

God expects us to give! Every Christian is called to GIVE! All Christians! Wherever your treasure is there your heart will be as well! Don’t forget that God owns everything! Giving has absolutely nothing to do with money and EVERYTHING to do with your heart! We are called to GIVE because it reorients our worship. How do you actually worship God? Is He consuming some of your time?? What is on your mind more often God, or money…? If your honest you will admit that our thoughts are consumed with money. We have got to change our thinking! Does money give you your peace? Prov 23:4-5 Am I struggling to make money?

We are called to GIVE because it changes our attitude about money. Destroy the claim that money has on your life! Free yourself from that pressure that never fulfills your heart. Stop worshiping money! Where do your time, thoughts and hopes suggest where your worship is rooted. Giving changes your heart and attitude towards money. God loves a cheerful giver. Give with the correct attitude. Don’t destroy God’s plan and blessing with your selfishness! Do the right thing, in the right way, with the right attitude. Giving with joy brings God joy. That should be our ultimate desire. Giving doesn’t steal our stuff and our joy but it re-orders the things we love. When you give what does your attitude say about your heart?

We are called to GIVE because it increases our trust in God. Practically speaking your money will show what you trust in. Where is it going. How are you spending your time? DO NOT MISS THE FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS!! Everything is His! His promises don’t change! He has always provided EVERYTHING I need. What does your wallet say about your practical trust in God? Am I giving 10 percent? Show your faith with your actions! Do not listen to the lies from the enemy or the flesh! They don’t want you to experience God! Don’t wait! This is not about money at all!! ITS ALL ABOUT OBEDIENCE AND TRUST!! Do you trust Him?

We are called to GIVE because it changes our view of the purpose of money. IT ALL BELONGS TO THE LORD! Trust Him that He will provide! 2 Cor 9:11 Be generous in every way! Let others experience God through our obedience. Change your attitude about money! Re-evaluate my giving! God please transform my heart!! He can do more with my 10 then I could ever do with 100! Malachi 3 Watch and see what He will do!

    APPLICATION:

Stop using men around as a grading scale. Stop dwelling on the past and my mistakes. Stop thinking about all the money I should have if I wasn’t so stupid as a young adult… Change my attitude about money and I will re-evaluate my giving. Stay thankful and humble. I do not deserve a single thing from anyone! Stay in the Word with God’s filter firmly in place to fight in my mind! God I pray with faith and write it here as proof. Please transform my heart and change me! Make me more like Jesus! Do the work that only You can do!

  • 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who supports the root, but the root that supports you…. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. 22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. ROM 11

After Paul told me time and time again that I did absolutely nothing to deserve my salvation and that there is nothing I can do to lose my salvation He says this in chapter 11… Kinda makes me step back and really think about everything…. Without trying to go into some super long theological explanation I just decided that I’ll be good either way! The question of ”If” I can lose it or not is not going to change how I live. I am going to live my life as a tribute to Christ either way! Because of what He has done! These verses are a stark reminder of how I should be thinking and living every single day. Do not forget who God is! Fear Him and let that respect run itself into every part of your life! Don’t forget where we get power. Without Him we are nothing! Thinking that my salvation can be lost is a good way to keep myself in check! Same way every time I’m in church during an altar call I’m raising my hands in my head and saying those prayers! I do not want to miss Jesus! So, I am going to keep fighting until I get to see Him face to face. And what a glorious day that will be!! Hallelujah!!!

29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. ROM 11:28–29 Can I get an AMEN!!!

Once God has got a hold of you there is no going back. Just typing that puts a smile on my face! Thank You Jesus! As I learn to truly believe God’s Word and I feel new things in my faith and my belief I just feel so fortunate to be in God’s family. I don’t ever want to go back! Truly undeserving grace and forgiveness that melts my heart. So thankful for the life I have that I absolutely don’t deserve!

    APPLICATION:

Stay in God’s Word. Keep the correct filter in my mind. Talk about Jesus at work! Don’t let fear control me. Pray with my wife at night. Don’t dwell on the past but focus on the things I can control. I don’t deserve anything but a hot spot in Hell! Don’t waste anymore of my life trying to please myself!

  • “I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.” Rom 10:20

Once you come to grips with just how filthy of a scumbag sinner you really are, you should be extra excited when you think about the grace and the forgiveness God gives you every second that your breathing! Thank you Lord!! I am a completely undeserving person to receive a gift of this magnitude. I could sit for hours telling you reasons why there is no way that, this gift is for me… That is why my mind gets blown every time I sit and think about it. God knows everything you have ever said, and done and He even knows the things I only think about doing. And in the midst of all that He comes down in the body of Jesus and gives us direct access! He gives us freedom! I no longer have to worry about being successful enough to deserve God! No longer do the past sins weigh me down and paralyze my spiritual life. With faith I accept that gift and with Jesus helping me every step of the way I will try to live my life as a tribute to Christ for what He has done for me!

But if it is by grace (His unmerited favor and graciousness), it is no longer conditioned on works or anything men have done. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace [it would be meaningless]. Rom 11:6

God didn’t pick me because I was special or because I’m super spiritual or better than anyone else. No, He gives grace to those who He gives grace to. I am just so thankful! Thank You Lord!

    APPLICATION:

Do not forget where I came from and don’t forget how much God has done for me! Be humble and thankful at all times! Stay full of scripture with the filter in place! Let my thankfulness to God fuel a life that brings Him glory! Give back by serving others! Pray more. Thank You Lord!

  • Sermon notes Pastor Kobe Orr

3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Rom 12:3–8

Every Christian is called to serve in the church. vs. 4-6 Those who are in Christ are always being changed more and more into the likeness of Jesus. If you are a part of the Lords church then you have been given a gift. No exceptions! Every Christian is called to serve in the church. vs. 6-8 The purpose of our gift is to use it to serve in the church. They are not for our own satisfaction!! 1 Peter 4:10 Serve one another! Don’t be lazy! Find out what your gift and calling are and use it to serve the Lord by serving other people! Your gift can be used by God to spread His Gospel! God expects us to use it for Him. He did not give us gifts to hoard and keep them locked in a closet. Church isn’t meant to be for me but is actually me. We are all one body! Working together in a real community towards glorifying God with our lives! You don’t know what God might do through our faithfulness! When the people of the church step up the whole body will benefit! The church body is only healthy when all of its parts are functioning correctly and in sink with each other.

Serving forces us to grow in humility! ROM 12:3 Serving is a forceful reminder that our life is not about us. It forces us to reorder all the things that we love. You can see our hearts in our actions and our priorities… God came to serve us by saving us from ourselves! Many like what the church can provide but don’t love enough to give back and contribute. Less then 50 percent are serving. If your to busy to serve in church then the church isn’t the problem but the active disobedience to God is your problem! If your not actively serving in the church you are robbing yourself of so many blessings and your cheating all your brothers and sisters around you. You have no clue what God can do through you. Are you serving???

How do you determine your spiritual gift? Start with prayer. Ask God what and how He wants us to serve! What do you enjoy? Do not assume that if you enjoy it that God is not in it! What are you good at? How can you use your gifts and talents to serve the Lord? God gave us all the gifts and talents we have for these very purposes. Find out where there is a need in the church and get involved! The priority is to serve and get involved asap!

    APPLICATION:

Continue to serve with the youth. I want to get involved with guys struggling with addiction. Help others fight the same battles I faced and face daily in this struggle against sin. Stay in the word and keep God’s filter in its proper place. Stay humble and thankful no matter what happens!

    IN HIS NAME!

  • 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Rom 10:14–15

This is something that is very convicting for me! I need to be more bold when it comes to sharing my faith! I think a lot of Christians miss this part too. We know what God expects of us and we work hard removing everything from our lives that doesn’t bring Him glory. We get so focused on ourselves we forget the part where He tells us to tell others about His Good news! If we miss this we will stay self absorbed and even if we are doing things that bring us closer to God we are missing out on the gigantic blessing of seeing God use our very own story to help change other peoples lives. God has given each of us a personal testimony that He wants to use to help us to spread His Gospel! Don’t wait until you think your ready! Get up and go tell someone about it! Don’t let the fear of man interfere! That is your flesh and the enemy trying to destroy the work of the Lord. And it doesn’t have to be a sermon either. Just find something or some way to relate and just talk like you would to a child or someone who is waiting to be free. Free from the chains and the bondage of sin! If God has given you freedom don’t wait to help others get that freedom! Don’t hide your light!

    APPLICATION:

Pray for boldness! Don’t miss opportunities at work to tell others about Jesus. Stay in the Word with the proper filter in my mind at all times! Practice with my kids and wife. Talk about Jesus more and pray with my wife every night! Don’t believe the lies from the enemy. Focus on the truth!

    IN HIS NAME!

  • Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. ROM 10

I was 8 years old and I was crying my eyes out at the Christmas Eve service when I told my mom I wanted to follow Jesus and I wanted Him to be the Lord of my life… She took me home and we got out her Bible and she took me straight to this verse. So much has happened since then… but when I read this passage I still get that same feeling in my stomach. I am here to confess that Jesus is Lord! And I confess that I’m a sinner who needs His saving grace. I confess that Jesus is Lord. But no matter how many times I say those words it wont change a thing if it doesn’t start in my heart. I believe that Jesus really is who He says He is and that He can do everything that He says He can do. So, now I will make my confession by how I live out the rest of my life. Your actions will reveal your heart. Am I going to surrender my life and serve Him or will I just continue to go through life only trying to make myself comfortable…?

I think our confession also includes telling people about Jesus. If you have news that it is so good that It can literally change someone’s life how could you keep it to yourself? We have been given a light in a lost and extremely dark world. Do not be selfish and keep all the light to yourself! Spread the light! Spread the love!! Don’t forget where God has brought you from! Save as many lost souls as you can! Speaking out openly about Jesus is a great way to confirm your own salvation. Don’t be scared. It will help you grow in faith and trust and courage… All from just telling people about what Christ has done in your life. Gospel=Good News. Start spreading the Gospel.

    APPLICATION:

I want to make a point to talking to others about Jesus. Especially when I’m at work. You have those moments when you look back and think, man I really could have been more godly. Or why did I do that or say that or why didn’t I talk about Jesus… I don’t want to waste any more opportunities to tell others about Jesus. Jesus saved me from death and a life of misery. He showed me a better way. I want to tell others about Him and what He has done in my life! Stay in the word! Make sure I’m using the proper filter when I’m going through my day! Memorize scripture. Be thankful!

The enemy knows the power of prayer! John 10:10 Do not fail to realize how powerful prayer is! Prayer exposes your level of faith and belief as well. If you truly believed that prayer worked I’m sure you would be doing it a whole lot more! Jer 33:3 Matt 19:26 Matt 21:22 Mark 11:24 John 16:24 1 John 5:14-15 Do you believe the promises of God? Your actions will tell the story! God is waiting and He delights in our prayers! Always remember to keep your motives in check! James 4 DO THIS TODAY: Set aside time to pray everyday! Make a prayer list. Commit to praying for that list everyday. Pray God’s word over all your requests! Ezra 7:10 Tell other people about it! Hear God’s Word- Rom 10:17 Read God’s Word- Rev 1:3 Study God’s Word- Acts 17:11 Memorize God’s Word- Psalm 119:11 Hide His Word in your heart! APPLICATION:

Have a plan. Plan time to read and pray everyday! Spend time praying with my wife and my kids. Join a life group. Get involved and serve. Memorize and meditate on scripture! • Sermon notes                Pastor John Walker

17 On one of those days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with him to heal. 18 And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus, 19 but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus. 20 And when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 22 When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, “Why do you question in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the man who was paralyzed—“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.” 25 And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God. 26 And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, “We have seen extraordinary things today.” Luke 5:17–26.

Jesus literally means ” The LORD Saves ” Emmanuel = GOD WITH US> God comes to us! =) Jesus came to rescue us and to reveal just how much we need Him! We received God’s forgiveness only through Jesus! Do you really believe what Jesus says to be true? Jesus is always full of compassion. ROM 3:23 We all fall short and we all need to be saved! Jesus doesn’t have to appeal to anyone else when it comes to forgiving sins! How will you respond to Jesus??

Jesus’ forgiveness is given to those who come to Him in trust! vs. 20 Really let the truth about God sink into your life. Let it guide and lead your thoughts and actions and ultimately guide your life! True belief is always followed by action! Genuine faith has action! Jesus meets action with compassion and love! ROM 10:13 Jesus’ truth will always stay the same and never change only because of what He has done!

Jesus’ forgiveness is for those who come to Him in humility. vs. 22-23 Rom 3:10 Do not just appear to be righteous! Our lack of humility keeps us from Him. Humility is needed for salvation and again during our sanctification. Be humble and not prideful! Look at your struggles and try to see what God is trying to change in your life. 2 Cor 5:21 My righteousness comes from what Christ has done and has nothing to do with me! The greatest gift I can give my family is a humble heart! Model God’s grace to those around me and put God’s grace on display for the world to see! Don’t hide the light!

Jesus’ forgiveness should move us to grateful worship. vs 25-26 Do not hide the light of Christ. Do not ever lose that sense of awe and worship. Remember what Christ has done and what He continues to do daily! Genuine worship is expressed by obedience and compassion. Luke 7:47 A lack of love for God will show itself by a lack of love for other people! A lack of patience and compassion and generosity are all signs you don’t have the Lord in your heart! Or you are just in sin! Don’t grow cold in your heart. Read the Word and remember what Christ has done for you! Let that love and that passion ignite a fire that burns hot for God! And don’t look back! I need Jesus to do for me what I cannot do for myself! Remember that God is God and that I am not! Stay humble!

    APPLICATION:

Read the word! Write out all the things God has done for me! Use those things to guide my prayers and my thoughts. Ask God for help. Ask for wisdom and strength and courage! Ask Him for forgiveness and guidance into the future. Then worship and live like someone who has been saved from death! Don’t hide the truth. Spread the light of the Lord!!! Don’t be selfish or lazy! Please help me Lord for I cannot do this on my own!
